Teaching and training

The UWA Oceans Institute is directly engaged in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and through executive education, short course training and capacity building programs.

The UWA Oceans Institute works with contemporary education tools and technologies and has considerable expertise across a range of teaching and training areas:

  • We teach into Bachelor's and Master's courses in marine science management, oceans engineering and technology, maritime archaeology and history, oceans and corporate governance, maritime industries, trade and investment
  • We are committed to the highest quality research training for postgraduate students to prepare graduates to be future research leaders
  • We provide training modules, on and off shore, live and online, to build expertise and capacity in key areas such as baseline data and data analysis, safety and technical competency and marine expertise
  • We provide training for postgraduate research students to not only address marine research but also to foster the skills needed for future careers. Increasingly, this involves not only research training but also the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
  • We also conduct executive education short courses for government, industry and the non-governmental sector, focused on building knowledge and expertise in leadership, management and governance.
